Our Mission
The Gilded Thistle is dedicated to educating the public about history through immersive and engaging theatrical performances. We aim to bring historical events, cultures, and stories to life with accuracy, respect, and creativity, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for our shared heritage.
Our History
The Gilded Thistle was started in 2013 by Nikki Miller, Shere'e Robison, Em Wolfe, and Dan Lavine portraying the court of Mary, Queen of Scots circa 1563-65. They were the original royal court of the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Fair and later Oregon Renaissance Faire and were vital to the origin and instrumental in the growth of both faires. In 2016, the guild became independent and began to perform at various events around Oregon and Washington.
Since then, the guild has performed at ren faires, fantasy faires, highland games, pirate festivals and more. In 2022, they also began performing at 18th century events as the Barcelona Trading Company.
Our Community
The Gilded Thistle gained 501c3 nonprofit status in 2022 and is committed to the goals of education, inclusion and community involvement. Our members represent a diverse range of identities, ages and abilities and we are fiercely committed to ensuring that everyone is safe and included. We do not tolerate bigotry or discrimination of any kind within our group.

We pride ourselves on our deep connections to the Pacific Northwest renaissance faire community, from fellow performers and guilds, to vendors and crew. We have partnered with organizations such as the Seattle Knights, Sea Wolf Voyages, and the Spirit of 76. Members of the Gilded Thistle also perform with the Mutiny Mermaid Pod.
